The Dolphins have traded veteran quarterback Josh McCown to the Panthers for an undisclosed 2009 draft pick, according to South Florida Sun-Sentinel. "I'm excited for the opportunity," McCown said after hearing of the deal. The Dolphins signed McCown on March 1 to a two-year deal worth $6.25 million, but the addition of Chad Pennington clouded his future in Miami.

The Cowboys have acquired guard Montrae Holland from the Broncos for a fifth-round draft pick in 2010, according to Dallas Morning News. Holland will fill in at left guard while Kyle Kosier recovers from a foot injury. "We think to come in there and get a guy who started and has as much experience as he has is an opportunity for us when we look initially at our backup situation," owner Jerry Jones said. "We don't have those kinds of starters on the team. That was a plus for us."
